As an ethnic ex model, I find it a disgrace how even in the year 2011, ethnic models are still not equal to their caucasian fellow models. Really? Is dark skin/ethnic women still not deemed beautiful in the fashion world. Clearly that answer is YES. Of course there are some ethnic models that get VIP recognition, but very few. This also goes for the acting world. Getting parts/roles for ethnic actors/actress is difficult seeing that 8 times out 0f 10, you have two strikes against you bc of your skin color.
Its sad. I get asked a lot if I am "mixed" with something after the person that asked the question tells me Im pretty. Im like wow, people think that you must have another race in your DNA make up in order to be "pretty".
I hear you, Eileen Ford told me I was too white to be black and too black to be white and the exotic look is just not in! So, there are times when being mixed helps and doesn't...here in NYC it is all about Chanel Iman and the real Iman they are at all the red carpet events in New York...it is truly a shame...alas.
well said....lol @ the too white to be black and to black to be white..
